Rotary Club of Farmville Presents End-of-Year Awards

At its meeting on June 26, 2025, Doug Stanley, outgoing President of the Rotary Club of Farmville, recognized several Club Members and a community member for their outstanding service during the 2024-2025 year.

Those recognized include:

Rotarian of the Year – Kerby Moore

The Rotary Club of Farmville Rotarian of the Year is Kerby Moore.  This year Kerby capably served the Club in a number of capacities.  As Foundation Chair, Kerby helped the Club significantly increase giving to Rotary International and its mission by over $4,000 over the previous year.  Through his efforts, we increased the number of Paul Harris Fellows (PHF) from 30 to 35, multiple PHF from 20 to 23, and the total number of Rotarians contributing at least $25 per year to the Foundation to 35.

In addition, Kerby organized the “Salute to Service” event to honor the areas veterans on November 9,2024.  A fixture at the weekly FACES food distribution events, Kerby is one of the first to sign up at any service opportunity and provides a shining example of what it means to be a Rotarian.  A Past Club President, Kerby has been a tremendous resource for me over the past year and is a great sounding Board for our Club leadership.

New Rotarian of the Year – Tammy Nelson

During her first year in the Club, Tammy Nelson has made her presence felt…mostly in our stomachs.  She stepped in to take over Club catering duties for several months to ensure that Club members were fed.  In addition, she has donated food to events, food as raffle prizes, and countless hours to almost every event the Club has sponsored despite being one of the busiest people in Farmville.  In particular Tammy was a big supporter of the RAM event and Taste of Farmville fundraiser.  Thank you, Tammy for being such a force for change in the community!

President’s Award – Andrew Payne

Andrew stepped up to the plate this year and took over as the Public Image Director for the Club.  He has done an outstanding job of capturing our members in service to the community over the course of the year and has helped the Club receive the EPIC award from Zone 33/34 for Excellence in Public Image Coordination.  If there was a Club event, Andrew was there to document and take photos or he made sure someone else covered it.  In addition, Andrew helped to organize the Rotary Bake Sale to raise funds for the local Piedmont Habitat for Humanity.  In total he has logged over 60 volunteer hours for the Club during the past year.  Congratulations Andrew and thanks for helping our Club look it’s best!

President’s Award – Jennifer Kinne

Jenn capably handled both the weekly newsletter and social event planning for the Club this year.  She took the newsletter to the next level providing great graphics and information to keep our members informed.  The social events including the Sandy River Distillery get together, Christmas Party, and FACES social where we helped to pack bags as a service project were great ways to come together as a Club outside the normal meeting venue.  Thanks, Jenn for making this a fun year!

Honorary Rotarian: Lisa Simon

This year’s Honorary Rotarian is Lisa Simon.  Lisa stepped up to be the sponsor for the new Interact Club at Prince Edward County High School.  The long-serving French Teacher, Lisa did a fantastic job recruiting students who had an itch to serve their school and community bringing in 18 students to the initial induction for the Club.  Thank you, Lisa for being such a cheerleader for the Club!
