District 7600 recognizes Farmville Club for accomplishments

The Rotary Club of Farmville is proud to announce that it was recognized by District 7600 for a number of awards at the annual District 7600 Awards Banquet held at the Heritage Golf Club on July 12th. District 7600 includes 64 Rotary Clubs and over 2,700 members in central and southeastern Virginia.

The Club received 9 patches signifying that the Club had met or exceeded award criteria in each of the categories. At the luncheon the Club received the following award recognition:

• Governor’s Circle Award

• Outstanding President Award

• District Foundation Award

• Club Website Award

• Public Image Award

• Youth Service Award

• Rotary Education Award

• International Service Award

• Community Service Award

According to Past Club President Douglas P. Stanley, “I am extremely proud of the membership of this club. There seems to be no limit to the service they are willing to provide both to our local community and the global community. They should be proud of this recent recognition.” Stanley noted that he was extremely proud of the Club achieving the Platinum level for the Public Image Award, one of five clubs in the district, and the International Service Award which recognized the Club’s involvement in a 3-year $126,000 grant project in Honduras.

According the Club President-Nominee Patti Wagner and coordinator for the project, “The grant has allowed Neonatal Intensive Care personnel, representing 16 hospitals, to obtain a certification in the stabilization of sick newborns. Supportive equipment was also purchased.”

In addition to the Club awards, Rotarian Dan Dwyer was recognized with the District’s Golden Rotarian Award. In his nomination, Stanley noted Dan has been a dedicated and engaged member of the Rotary Club of Farmville since 1985. Over his nearly 40-year tenure, he has served in numerous roles, including Club President (1988-1989), Foundation Chair, and was recognized as Rotarian of the Year in 2011.

Since 2009, Dan has maintained perfect attendance, not only showing up for every meeting but also actively participating in nearly every club function and volunteer opportunity. He consistently steps up to lead and serve. Stanley added, “For nearly four decades, Dan has exemplified the spirit of Rotary through his unwavering dedication, leadership, and service. His commitment serves as an inspiration to all Club members, making him a truly deserving candidate for the Golden Rotarian Award.”
